The Move-In Date is the date the household actually begins living in permanent housing. In Permanent Housing projects, you enter this date when occupancy starts, not when they enroll, or when the program begins, or when they exit. This date is key because HMIS uses it to track how long households stay in permanent housing and to measure outcomes from the moment they move in. For example, if a lease starts on January 5 but the family only moves in on January 12, the Move-In Date is January 12. If they haven’t moved in yet, you wait to enter it until the actual move-in occurs.
